Why should I use a professional dog walker?

Regular walks with a professional dog walker will help your dog stay happy and healthy while building important social skills. Regularly walked dogs have higher confidence, misbehave less, have less accidents in the home. And of course, they have something to look forward to every day!

How many dogs do you walk at one time?

Salty Dog never walks more than six dogs together – all carefully screened to ensure canine compatibility. Unlike some other walkers who take out 10 or more dogs at once, my smaller groups allow me to give your dog more attention and helps ensure their safety.

Do you carry insurance?

Yes, Salty Dog is fully insured and bonded. The insurance includes coverage for dogs while they are in the care of Salty Dog as well as lost key coverage.

Do we have to drop our dog off?

No, Salty Dog comes to you and your dog. Just leave us with a spare key during our initial introduction and we will come pick up your pooch at your place and return them there after.

How will you keep my keys secure?

Salty Dog makes sure all keys are kept in a locked safe. The keys are numbered, so clients’ names and addresses are not stored with the keys. I also carry insurance in the event that a key is lost. If you prefer, we can provide a key safe to be kept outside your home for $25. If you need a key cut, we charge $20 to pick up your key, take it to have copies made and return the original to you.

Do you clean up after the dogs?

Of course, every time, everywhere, and Salty Dog uses only biodegradable poop bags.

What happens if my dog has a medical emergency or is injured?

I am First Aid certified and carry a canine first aid kit. I also carry a cell phone and each dog’s emergency and veterinary contact info. All Salty Dog clients are required to complete an emergency care authorization at the time of registration.

My dog is not neutered – does that matter?

All dogs participating in group walks must be neutered or spayed, up to date on their vaccinations and wear either a collar tag, microchip or tattoo. For individual leashed walks, some exceptions may be made.

My dog can be difficult to manage – will you still walk her?

Dogs are carefully assessed during their first walk. A dog who is overly aggressive or timid around other dogs may initially have to be walked individually rather than with the group.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Monthly payments may be made in cash, by personal check or by credit card through PayPal.
